It has consistently been determined that the benefits of cannabis legalization outweigh the harm of criminalization.
Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York’s Department of Health have stated that the positive effects of cannabis outweigh the “potential negative effects.” Recently, the State of New York’s health commissioner told reporters in Brooklyn that the department concluded the state should move ahead with legalizing and regulating the drug.
President Obama said, “I do believe that treating this as a public-health issue, the same way we do with cigarettes or alcohol, is the much smarter way to deal with it.”
President Jimmy Carter said, “Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself; and where they are, they should be changed.”
In the Shafer Report, commissioned by President Nixon, DEA Administrative Judge Young said it was the “safest therapeutic substance known to man.”
The war against this plant has impacted personal freedom. It has created oppression and scared people into not speaking out for reform. The science, the profits in 39 states and the will of the majority of the people are proof that cannabis adult-use legalization is imperative.
Regulate Florida is committed to helping Florida create sensible policy, similar to that of other states. As more states support cannabis legalization, more research funding is approved for cannabis-related studies. These studies benefit so many people in a variety of capacities.
Florida politicians need to be held accountable for the duties in which they agreed to honor as an elected official. Ultimately, they work for the people and should be held accountable. We can do that by supporting and passing Regulate Florida.
